Vulnerability is a coat writers wear. We take it off and put it on when we feel like it or when circumstances require us to. There will be times when the coat feels far too heavy so we take it off, carry it in our hands, fold it neatly and hang it inside the closet. We walk around lighter. But less elegant. Less significant. Other times, it weighs lightly, soft as feather, so we put it on, fits us snug, and upon receiving a couple of compliments, a handful of smiles and a sliver of hope… we don’t quite regret putting it on. We tell ourselves that whenever or wherever we write, we must not forget to wear our coats with sophistication. And with an honest, earnest heart.
